About Woodlands Newcomers & Friends

You have friends here.  You just have not met us yet!

Woodlands Newcomers & Friends is a fun social organization that fosters strong networking within the community and enriching experiences via various interest groups.

The club is open to residents of The Woodlands and surrounding communities including Shenandoah, Conroe, Oak Ridge, Tomball, Magnolia and Spring.

Membership dues are $45 per year, which runs from April 1st through March 31st. Members who join more than halfway through the year are charged a prorated fee.

The best way to learn more about our club is to meet us! Every month we hold a coffee at the home of one of our members or a local establishment. It's a great way to meet other members or to introduce a guest. The food is delicious and the company is very friendly. Look for the next coffee date on our Calendar Events page. Here is a list of our evening interest groups:

EVENING—Book Club

We meet the 1st Thursday of each month.  If you would like to participate, please join the interest group to receive the monthly updates with book titles and location.  For more information, email Gloria

 

Bunco

Bunco is a social dice game involving 100% luck and no skill. Scoring is easy and there is a simple set of rules. Contact Kristi Barry for more information.

Couples Happy Hour

Join in Happy Hour Fun and bring your special someone!

Ladies Night Out

This group of ladies meets once a month at local restaurants.

Mah Jongg – Evening Group

Mah Jongg is an ancient Chinese game combining elements of dominos, Gin Rummy & poker. Play is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays.

Mexican Train

Mexican Train meets on the 4th Saturday of the month in our members’ homes. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play. We are happy to teach you. Please contact Dorothy for more information.

Partners Euchre & Mingle Night

Euchre is a fun, fast-paced, & easy-to-learn card game! If you haven’t played, don’t worry, we can teach you! We have appetizers and drinks at 7 p.m. start playing Euchre at 7:30 p.m. and mingle some more after cards.

Wine Down Wednesdays

This group of ladies meet on the 2nd Wednesday each month at various eating establishments or watering holes around the area. It’s a great opportunity to try a place you haven’t been to before, while getting to know more members in a casual setting.

Arts, Crafts and Friends

Do you Scrapbook, paint, or make jewelry? Do you knit, crochet, or do other needlework? Come enjoy working on your project in the company of creative friends! We meet from noon to 3 p.m. on the 1st Wednesday each month.

Book Club 1: The Group is full at this time..

 

1st Tuesday each month. Noon to 3 p.m.

Garden Gnomes

The gnomes meet on various dates. We meet to discuss gardening & nature, share cuttings & take a few trips throughout the year.

Gourmet Group

Food & Fun! Explore different recipes, events, tastings with your WN&Friends! Some events will be members only, others will be couple events.

Mah Jongg Group 1

Mah Jongg is an ancient Chinese game combining elements of dominos, Gin Rummy, and poker. Play is from 11:30 a. m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday. Beginners Welcome.

Mah Jongg Group 2

Mah Jongg is an ancient Chinese game combining elements of dominos, Gin Rummy and poker. This group meets Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon. No experience necessary! We’d love to teach you!

Movie Club

Let's Go To The Movies! One Tuesday each month we will meet at a local theater to see the latest film.

Rummikub

Rummikub is a game of Rummy played with tiles. Join us for a game of Rummikub every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at La Madeleine on Market Street. It is fun for beginners and advanced players.

Shanghai Rummy

1st Thursday & 4th Tuesday of each month. This is a card game originating in China. Our group meets at 11 a.m. at a restaurant.
